Submachine - Today's Time Waster
I'm not sure when, but at some point like these Flash point-and-click escape games really exploded. You know the kind: You're trapped in some odd locale and you have to collect seemingly benign items, follow obique clues, and generally put things together and push buttons until you find the exit. Submachine is one such game, and perhaps the only thing that sets it apart is that it's a little more oblique than most. You're stuck in a curious wood-paneled environment whose rooms are filled with strange objects, like bells that control levitating boxes and something resembling a grandfather clock. Put everything together in the right way, and you just might escape. It's not the most sophisticated challenge, but solving it is a fun—if brief—diversion.
With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.

Very fun game, I love those sorts.
