BBC working on audio annotation system
The BBC is working on an audio annotation program that “users to collectively describe, segment and annotate audio in a Wikipedia-style fashion”. If you find the concept of that is a little mind-boggling yet really exciting, you’re not alone. Fortunately, Tom Coates has provided a couple of screencasts to show exactly how this would work. Unfortunately, this is a BBC R&D project, and therefore will likely not see the light of day in its current form. But, the good news is that this is something being done by the BBC, arguably the most forward-thinking public broadcast company in existence. With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.
