Would you rather ditch your browser or all your desktop apps?
Sun's Jonathan Schwartz has written an interesting post on his blog titled The Value in Volume. Schwartz talks about how upgrades have been replaced by the reload button and how the traditional distribution model which Microsoft perfected and benefited most from is now out the window. The most interesting part of his post, however, is his anecdote about asking a keynote audience "which they'd rather give up—their browser, or all
the rest of their desktop apps." Unanimously, he says, they'd all give up everything but the browser. I would do the same, without a second thought.
