Mac-like Dock in Windows Using ObjectDock - Daily Mod

This mod is for those of you that are starting to get tired of the Windows eXPerience, and are looking longingly at the admittedly more polished user interface of OS X. ObjectDock is an emulation of the dock that you see at the bottom of the screen on the display Macs that you play with in the computer store. It was recently updated to have more efficient (read: faster and smoother) animations, and has tons of options to customize it for your machine. It even gives you the option of completely replacing the Windows taskbar, and although it is much nicer to look at, personally I can't imagine using it to the exclusion of the taskbar. It's definitely a fun way to confuse your not-so-tech-savvy friends! ObjectDock is available in a fully functional free version, or a paid version is also available with additional features.

There's another, somewhat similar dock called RK Launcher that's pretty neat. I think it's even compatible with objectdock docklets.

I've been using Aqua Dock for a few months now, it's also similar, and it's free, not shareware.

ObjectDock has worked great for me for about a month now. I have completely cleaned up most of the shortcuts on my desktop, and now I just have the taskbar and two docks running (default and one tabbed). I was able to categorize all my shortcuts in to the tabbed dock, which really makes things so much cleaner. My main dock houses my MOST used apps, and looks extremely slick, and works about as smooth as the dock on my PowerBook. Since I had purchased the full Object Desktop suite from StarDock, I was able to overhaul my entire ICON set with great hi-resolution replacements. I also combine this whole shibang with TopDesk, the Expose-like app for windows, and together, they have vastly improved my XP interface!
Highly recommended product. The freeware version doesn't allow more than one dock, but gives you a slick spyware free product none-the-less. The purchased version includes a slick "fly-out menu" feature that you won't find even on a Mac!

While I can't imagine going out three levels like that screenshot goes, I do use it to group stuff in to categories on the main dock (Like MS Office and the Quick Launch). It has it's own great set of animations and works extremely well.
No, I don't work for StarDock - I do really like ObjectDock though!

I tried object dock before and then found aqua dock. Object dock crashed too much for me and i have had no problems with aqua dock. You might want to check it out also. I run it with flyakiteosx on my dull laptop.

The dock is definitely the most over-hyped and underwhelming part of OSX. I'm a Windows man but use OSX at work, and I very rarely use the dock anymore.
It's ok as an app launcher, but as a task switcher it's crap. Alt-Tab on OSX is all you need - and it's even better than XPs alt-tab.
Don't get me started on that annoying magnify rubbish! Great for demos, 100% annoying to try and use everyday.

Punk Software's RocketDock is the best of them all. It's the fastest and most efficient one, and is compatible ALL other docks' skin formats. It's also uncommonly stable, even on older computers.
