Browser tip of the day: Firefox by the numbers

One of my favorite Firefox features is the fact that you can navigate among tabs using your keyboard's number keys. Just hit Ctrl-1 to jump to the first tab, Ctrl-2 for the second one, etc. The problem is, if you've got more than two or three tabs open, it gets pretty hard to keep track of which number corresponds to which tab. That's why Derek Featherstone's Numbered Tabs Extension is one of my favorite Firefox extensions. Once installed, the extension adds a small superscripted number to the corner of each tab. No more guessing or getting fingerprints on the screen as you count off tabs. Of course, both the Ctrl+n function and the extension only work for up to 9 tabs, so if you've got more than that open, you're on your own.
With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.

The numbered tab thing does not work

Strange. I've been able to get it to work. It's possible that it breaks with newer builds. Anybody have trouble with this on recent Firefox builds?

I don't have the plugin, but ctrl+number works for me (on FF 1.06, the newest official release). Thanks for pointing this feature out.
