Sasser Virus Writer Receives Suspended Sentence
Sven Jaschan - the 18-year-old convicted of writing the detrimental Sasser worm when he was 17 - received a 21-month suspended sentence for his costly crime, the BBC reported today. Jaschan was found guilty of computer sabotage and illegally altering data, but received a suspended sentence due to the fact that he wrote the worm when he was 17 and was arrested mere days before his 18th birthday. Jaschan was arrested in May 2004 after a tip was submitted for a $250,000 cash reward offered by Microsoft.
