Browser Tip of the Day: How to save any multimedia file from the web to your hard drive

This one has been making the rounds on del.icio.us and Digg, and for power-users who know Firefox's dialog boxes by heart it's not news. But one of Firefox's greatest but least-known features is the Page Info dialog's Media tab, which you can use to save almost any kind of media (Flash, QuickTime, etc.) that you encounter on a web site to your hard drive. It's pretty straight-forward (choose Page Info from the Tools menu, click on the Media tab, find the file you want to save and click on Save As...), but if you need some help inner.geek has a complete write-up.

Interesting, I stumbled on that earlier today when I was trying to figure out a way to save the movie file a Live 8 site gives you. Tried the link in Foxfire and stumbled on the Page Info menu.
Yes it does work, but here's the interesting part. I'm still p*ssed that I have to pay again for QT Pro so I'm still using QT v.6. Sure enough, when I open the movie file I CAN"T EXPORT IT. I've been able to export other files using QT v.6 in 10.4 but somehow there's a tag in the movie file that prevents it. . .
