Global raids net $50 million in bootleg software, media
In a global sting led by the FBI, police in 11 countries targeted software and media pirates, shutting down eight servers and grabbing what they said was $50 million worth of bootleg media. Police also arrested four people in the U.S and three in the Netherlands. While authorities are touting the crackdown as a major victory, it remains to be seen how much of a dent the operation really makes in piracy — especially since warez hotbeds in eastern Europe and Asia were untouched.
